So, you're interested in being a fitness model?
People who follow my work know that I usually write about nutrition, supplements, training, and other science-based issues rather than subjective ones like the one described in this post. I chose to abandon my science nerd character and write about a topic that I know will be beneficial to hundreds of aspiring fitness models. Why am I writing what some would regard as a "fluff" essay as a well-known "hard core" science-based no BS writer?
Over the years, I've received hundreds, if not thousands, of emails, letters, and in-person inquiries from women asking, "How do I become a fitness model, Will?"The truth is, I've been in the fitness, health, and bodybuilding business for a long time, and while I'm best known as a science and nutrition-based "guru," I've also trained many a fitness athlete, judged fitness and figure/bikini shows for the NPC, Fitness America, Fitness USA, and other federations, and given marketing and business advice to a wide range of athletes, including fitness models. So, it's not as far-fetched as it may appear that I'll utilise this space to discuss a non-scientific topic, namely, how to become a fitness model.
This post will be beneficial to both experienced and inexperienced individuals trying to "break into" the fitness equipment industry. Even if you are a seasoned and successful fitness model, I am confident that you will find some beneficial advice in this post. The bad news first: there is no one-size-fits-all approach to being a successful fitness model. There is no one-size-fits-all solution or magical formula. There are, however, several crucial things a person can do to dramatically boost their chances of "making it" as a model in the fitness industry, and possibly using that success as a launching pad to larger things, such as movies, television, and other forms of entertainment.
Several best gym equipment brands in India and fitness models (Trish Stratus and Vicki Pratt spring to mind, but there are many others) have embarked on callisthenics.

"Do I have to compete?"
This is a common question I'm asked, and it's not a simple one to answer. In fact, the answer is yes and no (drum roll). To answer that question, the person must first decide why they are competing in the first place. Do you need to compete, for example, if you want to be a successful fitness model? No, that is not the case. Many of today's well-known fitness models have never competed, or have only appeared in a few local events, and it is apparent that it was not a factor in their fitness modelling career. Competing, on the other hand, has its advantages. Exposure is one of them. Editors, publishers, photographers, and supplement comps will frequently be present at the higher level exhibitions. On the other hand, it must be understood that winning a competition does not ensure success in the fitness modelling sector (which is, after all, a company). The phone isn't going to ring off the hook with massive contract offers. Also, keep in mind that the 4th, 6th, or 8th place finisher in a fitness or figure competition is likely to receive more coverage than the winner. Why? Though the winner may have what it takes to win the programme, the editor, publishers, supplement companies, and others often believe that other girls are more marketable."How can I get my work published in magazines?"
This part covers everything I've discussed so far, as well as a few new strategies. Competing in fitness shows and/or figure/bikini shows, for example, might boost your exposure and so attract the attention of a magazine editor or photographer. Networking properly at various trade exhibitions may have the same impact, and having a strong portfolio done by a photographer who really catches your look, a solid web site, and so on, will all help you get into publications, obtain ad business, and so on.
